RERA Regulations for Real Estate Agents
Real estate agents play a vital role in the property sector, acting as intermediaries between builders and buyers. With the introduction of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), it will be mandatory for all brokers to register with their respective state-level authorities.
Each registered agent will receive a unique registration number, valid for five years, which must be included in every transaction they facilitate.
Agents found misrepresenting project details to buyers will face penalties of up to Rs 10,000 per day, capped at 5% of the project’s total cost. They are also required to maintain accurate financial records for the projects they handle and will be accountable for them.
Registration must be renewed every five years to remain compliant with RERA guidelines.
